15th ANNUAL MLK SYMPOSIUM: PURSUING RACIAL JUSTICE IN 21st CENTURY AMERICA
The Dallas Institute has long recognized Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as one of the foremost thinkers, speakers, and writers in the American tradition.
Begun in 2006 and conducted on MLK Day each year, the MLK Symposium provides for the City of Dallas, an annual event of intellectual and imaginative substance that:
– explores the historical achievement of Dr. King
– considers the impact of Dr. King’s legacy on past, present, and future
– promotes the ongoing study of Dr. King’s speeches and writings, spotlighting key aspects of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s as exemplified by Dr. King and other leaders and key figures
– connects the U.S. Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s-1960s to current movements
