Professors Bruce B. Lawrence and miriam cooke of Duke University have shaped their professional careers around a desire to know and understand the cultures of the Middle East and South Asia. Within their broader scholarly interests, working separately and in collaboration, both have focused considerable attention on the Muslim religion and its traditions.

In this special Dallas Institute event, Professors Lawrence and cooke will be on stage together to discuss and present aspects of their work based on three of their many books: Muslim Networks, which they co-edited; Dancing in Damascus, by Prof. cooke; and The Koran in English, by Prof. Lawrence.
