DESCRIPTION In early April 2017, the Dallas Theater Center will stage Sophocles’ Electra as a one-of-a-kind production that will take the audience on a journey through the grounds of AT&T Performing Arts Center’s Annette Strauss Artist Square. Prior to the play, DTC Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty will lead a class exploring Sophocles’ and two other classical Greek plays about the daughter of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra and brother of Orestes. What was her role in the tragic downfall of the House of Atreus, and why was she such a seminal figure to the Greek tragedians? In addition, Mr. Moriarty will speak about larger issues central to Greek tragedy as a lead-up to the play he has adapted and will produce.
