Speaking of Movies
Dr. Scott Churchill [Bio] and guest critics
One of the Institute’s most popular group activities, “Speaking of Movies” is what every film lover looks for: a community of like-minded people whose love of movies is matched by a strong desire to discuss them afterward. Each month, February through April and September through November, Dr. Scott Churchill—professor of psychology and film—screens movies before their release, assigns the best ones for the group to watch on their own, and then with guest critic of the month leads discussion of the selected films on the third Monday of the month. The group’s final meeting each semester is dinner and a classic movie at the Institute, a popular staple for members. “Speaking of Movies” aspires to the ideal of the Institute: to enjoy and to learn.
