A Presentation and Book-Signing with Author Ben Fountain
Dallas author Ben Fountain won wide-spread and much-deserved praise for his 2012 award-winning novel Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, made into a 2016 movie by Ang Lee. In the masterful prose and classic satirical voice of its author, Billy Lynn leaves virtually no area of American culture unaddressed. Fountain’s latest book, Beautiful Country Burn Again, is equally wide-ranging, the nonfiction result of a year-long meditation on America during 2016 that is both a lament for and an indictment of his beloved homeland, where he sensed powerfully that “something new and ugly was afoot in the land of the famously free.” In his signature style—through which our common language is uncommonly renewed—Fountain excavates the past while laying bare the cultural upheaval of 2016. Join us for a presentation, Q&A, and book-signing.
